LEONARDO'S TEAMS

From the Torino FC youth academy to Duke University: an international career between Italy and the United States.

Leonardo D'Ambrosio

About me

Leonardo D’Ambrosio is an Italian midfielder, born in 2001, who developed in the Torino FC academy. After experiencing professional soccer in Italy, reaching Torino’s Primavera side and competing in Serie D, he chose to push beyond Italian and European borders: first to the College of Charleston, then to Duke University, where he combines athletic ambition with academic excellence. Soccer and academics, Italy and America: two worlds he has learned to make one.

My Journey

Stage

The Journey

From youth soccer in Italy to the American college game, Leonardo’s journey has been shaped by bold choices, adaptability, and the hunger to grow. Every step added something: identity, experience, mindset, and vision. Not just soccer, but a path built day by day through sacrifice, academics, and the drive to reach a higher level.

Stage

Torino FC

Leonardo developed in the Torino FC academy, one of the most demanding and respected environments in Italian soccer. This is where he built the foundation of his game: intensity, awareness, discipline, and a professional mindset. His years at Torino marked the beginning of a serious path built on daily work and high standards from the start.

Stage

Serie D

After his youth development years, Leonardo stepped into senior soccer and faced a more physical, demanding, and competitive environment. Those first experiences taught him how to handle pressure, pace, and responsibility. It was the moment when talent had to start turning into consistency, impact, and maturity.

Stage

The College of Charleston SC

By moving to the United States, Leonardo chose to expand his horizons and test himself in a completely different system. At the College of Charleston, he combined high-level college soccer with his academic journey, growing both as an athlete and as a person. This was a key chapter because it marked the start of the international side of his path.

Stage

Duke University

Arriving at Duke marked another major step forward. In one of the most prestigious academic and athletic environments, Leonardo kept pushing his level higher. Duke represents the perfect blend of athletic ambition, academic excellence, and international mindset. It is a place where performance and vision have to move together.

Stage

USL 2

Leonardo’s USL2 experience added another important layer to his journey. After a first season with Ocean City Nor’easters, where he recorded 4 goals, 5 assists, and helped the team reach the Final Eight, he confirmed his impact at Miami AC with 5 goals and 6 assists, while also balancing an internship. In the summer of 2025, he also played for North Carolina FC, featuring in the final stretch of the season in a competitive, high-level environment, made possible by his proximity to Duke and the early start of his master’s program. In the summer of 2026, he will join Fort Lauderdale United in USL2, as part of an ambitious project moving toward the professional level.
